Indoor Gardening
Jennifer Wille and Marissa Tomasic, employees at GYOstuff – Hydroponics, Organics & Indoor Gardens, 2400 Mass Ave, Cambridge, will give a presentation on indoor gardening with hydroponics. They will focus on the comparisons of growing inside with soil, coco, and hydro; an introduction to hydroponics; different hydroponic growing methods, growing mediums, nutrients, step-by-step instructions, and a demonstration.
All Somerville Garden Club meetings are free and open to the public. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at the Tufts Administration Building, (TAB), 167 Holland Street, second floor, wheelchair accessible. Parking is available, and the building is a ten-minute walk from the Davis Square MBTA stop.

Creating Beautiful Gardens Filled with Life
Carolyn Summers, Author of Designing Gardens with Flora of the American East
Instructive examples of gardens full of native plants are hard to find. Tonight, landscape architect Carolyn Summers fills that void with a plethora of images and commentary to fire our imaginations. She reviews the science behind the essential life support function of indigenous plants, takes us on a journey through a variety of formal gardens and more “naturalistic” landscapes, and illustrates the effective use of our northeastern native flora so that we can better visualize their full design potential. Ms. Summers is an adjunct professor at Westchester Community College and has been an effective advocate for native plants in the urban landscapes of New York City.
